Year Six

Posted on Feb 06, 2019

It's already that time of year again. Buckle up, this might get lengthy...

Six years ago today we lost a wonderful person. The creator of this site, a master photographer, a humble friend, loving father, wonderful husband; the list continues, but I won't. Although he isn't shooting new sets, his art and inspired works will live on here as long as our world allows it to.

Below are a series of photos of his, erotic and nature mixed, that I enjoy and think you might like too.

The models, in order of appearance, are Shay Laren, Megan Salinas, Erica Campbell, Mia Malkova, Georgia Jones, and Sofia Webber.

One thing we connected deeply on was music. He was always open minded when it came to music, and often listened to college channels to discover something new. He was a big classic rock fan, and despite my draw to "millennial music" he taught me to appreciate Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Red Hot Chili Peppers, you know the works. It's impossible for me to listen to Everlong without thinking of him and choking up a bit. Love this one. If only things could have been that real forever.

However, we both loved chill, relaxed music. We both loved Air's song Universal Traveler. I found it exceptionally relevant to his life, as travelling was a big love of his. I made sure to include it in his memorial slideshow.

A few weeks before his death he made this poster, and despite the spelling error and cheesiness, it is something I still return to from time to time if I'm ever feeling down.

He always knew how to keep things positive. While his once home is now burned to the ground, he stopped by the other day to cast a very intense rainbow, putting his light in the darkness.

I'll leave off with one of my favorite photos of him of all time.

Thank you for reading. Thank you J. Stephen Hicks, dad, for everything you have done. Have a good week everyone; he would want you to.

Well done Ryder. He was an artist without peer. It does not seem as though it has been 6 years already.

Very nice tribute, Ryder. Especially the U-Tube piece.
